On Saturday the 18th Adria and I ran the SLC half marathon. Leah trained along side us, but was actually gone for the race. (We missed you!) Cesar, Mike, Adria and I got to SLC on Friday night to check in, go drive the course in the light and then carbo load at The Old Spaghetti Factory. We were so anxious that we hardly slept. We got up at 5:00 am to eat and get ready to go. We got on trax and headed up to the Legacy Brigde(by Camp Douglas) on the UofU campus. We started there and ran down to Foothill dr. Then over to 2100 s. Made our way over to highland dr and through Sugarhouse. Over to 1700 s. and then west to 500 E. Then up and over to Liberty park where we were at 10 miles. Then down to State St and up to South Temple. One mile to go. Then west to the Union Pacific Building and around the corner to run through the Gateway to the Olympic fountain. Done....2hours 43 minutes. We had a lot of fun and couldn't believe that training really works!
When I started training I couldn't decide why I really wanted to do this. Then it hit me. I did it to bond with my sisters. I did it to be a healthier mom. I did it to prove to myself I still have it in me to push myself and achieve something I never thought I could. I am happy to say that I feel like I accomplished all three.
