Triathlon Post

Here is the post I just did for my Friends Blog... *WARNING* This posting is PG with one reference to drugs ... Thanks Mom & Dad for coming and supporting me! I can't believe we didn't take a picture together!

So, I was talking to my Education Professor/Advisor the other day, and she described my life perfectly... Three spinning plates. Well, she only knows about three... She knows about Family, School, Work. There are really a few more. Church, Friends, TRIATHLONS... Because of all the spinning plates, I haven't gotten around to posting pics from our big day until now (when I should be studying about joints-the body kind, not the marijuana kind-sometimes I WISH I had the marijuana kind, but, I digress...). So here they are... Thanks, Jen for your awesome support and photography!

Getting our transition areas set up. This was actually really fun. We met a woman named Rhonda who was about our same age, she had FUSHIA lipstick on- she said it pumped her up... We also met Leah, a youngster with a rich boss. She tried to play it off like she wasn't that serious, but she said they had practiced the swim to bike transition like 15 times in one night, so, whatever...

Almost time to get ready...

Body Marking... they put your number on your left hand so if they pull you out of the water, they know right away who you are... VERY reassuring...

Apparently it's important to have your age listed on the right calf. This is great when you are passing a 16 yr old boy. Not so great when a 55 yr old woman is passing you...

Seriously though, the numbers look AWESOME! I admit that I only scrubbed half-heartedly to get them off for church :-)

Ready for the start... The energy here is really amazing!

2 minutes to start...

1 minute to start...

Go!

One down... What you can't see is the very steep boat ramp we had to run up to get to the transition area...

Emily was a true friend and swam with Lana to make sure she didn't drown...

Not only did Lana NOT drown, she and Emily saved two people from drowning. That's not a joke, they really did get help for two people. We should start a tally of actual lives saved this year by the Extraordinary Housewives... I think this puts it at three or four!

Lana or Emily off on the bike...

Emily off on the run- that was fast!

Lana off on the run...

Adria off on the run... Yes, Lana passed me at the transition area...

Emily headed to the Finish Line! Even with her extra long swim :-), she still finished in like
2 hrs 2 mins. Emily is a Triathlon Rock Star!

Lana working the crowd as she heads to the finish...

Adria making it to the finish...

We all made it!

Someone get this girl a bagel! Oh- she got it herself...

Lana made us wait FOREVER to see if we won a door prize. We DID win... At the VERY end... Neoprene Socks...

Back at Holly's... Looking pretty good... This was an Extraordinary Event! We can't wait for next year! And Pete, whoever you are, remember that even though we completed this event, our definition of "Extraordinary" encompasses the "Ordinary" things we do every day... Raising good kids and husbands, working, furthering our educations, serving at church and in our kids' schools, running triathlons, and staying somewhat sane! I'd say THAT'S Extraordinary!

Where's Lucy? Where's Franny?

One night, I was cooking dinner and watching Lucy. Franny and Lucy emptied the cupboard and were cracking each other up.

Charlie Bit Me Gone Wrong

I think everyone is familiar with the youtube clip "Charlie Bit Me." About three days ago we were in the car and I heard Lucy in the back seat saying, "Charlie bit me okay." Then ,"Charlie that hurt okay?" It made me laugh that she could pick up on that. Well then the day after that I was in making dinner when I heard Belen scram sooo loud. The Lucy came running in the kitchen crying saying, "Mami, Charlie bit me okay?" Then she proceeded to show me that she bit Belen's finger so hard it left a mark. During her sobs she just kept saying "Charlie mami, charlie bit me." As if to explain it is supposed to be funny not make Belen cry. The things she picks up!

Camp Lomia 2008

Here was the official Logo for this years family reunion. Everyone had a great time and we can't wait for next year!
We started off each morning with aerobics lead by Amelia...and then it turned into freestyle dancing which was really fun.
Breakfast time at camp.

By the end of the first day Grandpa John had had it.
Cute Cousins!
Crazy Cousins!
There were three teams. Team Thunda, 5th Element, and Domination. Team Domination won the team competition. Way to go!
Hiking with Grandpa John turned out to be fun and memorable for the grandkids. We don't have a picture but Grandma Chiq was in charge of teaching the grandkids how to cook something, and a scavanger hunt.
Nobody was left out of any event. Even Lucy participated in the fitness challenge, which Leah won by the way.

Meal time was pretty crazy, but fun. We would all just come together and serve the Spencer army.
Enjoying the campfire!
Jake enjoying a little Belen time.
What is camping without mate. Tanner begged me to make it for him. Sofia decided she really didn't like it
We were having such a wonderful time until all of a sudden a storm came. And it came fast. A microburst of air that about took the small children and then rain! So he packed up and headed home a night early.
Here are the guys finishing cleaning up. We headed to Leah and Johs's to finish up our last events. It was still fun.
We missed those of you who didn't come and hope to see you next year!

Welcome Home Jake!!!

Jake's homecoming was so fun. We all waited anxiously for him to get off the plane. Of course he took FOR EVER to get off the plane...but he finally came. It was so fun to see him and the kids were so excited. We really missed Elle and Seby. We hope to see you soon!

Fenway Park Boston, Mass

While in Boston, we went to a Redsox game. They happened to be playing the Yankees. It was so much fun. Boston fans are insane, but it made it fun. A view of Fenway. LeAnn Rhimes sang the National Anthem and Kenny Chesney threw out the first pitch. The crowd went crazy for the country folk.

I wore a Boston t-shirt to have an authentic experience. Eating a Fenway dog sealed the deal. Josh was in heaven.

The "Green Monster".

The game was sold out. It was packed with "Bahston" fans.
Amelia and Ethan having dance party ! I think this picture is fuuny!Josh and I went to Boston for a little summer vacay. It was fun and very informative. We learned a lot about our nations early history and Paul Revere. And Paul Revere. And Pual Revere.

Don't you want to go where everybody knows your name?
